epic45 – Monument

Director
Ben Lankester

Commissioned by Wayside & Woodland, Ben Lankester directed the latest video for Staffordshire duo epic45 over two days in Dover, Camber, Salisbury and the New Forest in early summer.

The aim was to create a free-spirited video focused solely on the performance of dancer Rosie Thomas.

The Light

Music video days are traditionally long and tough and this was no exception. Shooting in the summertime, the sun dictated our early starts and late finishes in order to capture Rosie in the most interesting light. We deliberately made the drive between Camber and Salisbury in the middle of the day, foregoing the harsh midday light that wasn’t as valuable to us.

The Troubles

Despite a security guard demanding payment for shooting on Camber Sands and our producer reversing our hire van into a lamppost, we were blessed with beautiful weather, the Red Epic and Arri Ultra Primes working wonders on our wandering steadicam.

The Release

The video was received well among the band's loyal legion of fans, and went on to become one of their most viewed promos across all platforms.
