Mazda – Make Things Better
Hosted in Rome by Mazda Europe, The World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates is an annual event bringing together pre-eminent peacemakers from around the globe.
We travelled with content agency Redwood to capture the stories of the next generation of ambassadors working towards world peace.
In 2014, Finnish medical student Antti Junkkari won the inaugural Mazda Make Things Better Award with his radio project aiming to decrease small arms violence in Nigeria. Using the summit as an opportunity to meet some of the applicants, Antti was now on the hunt for the next award winner.
With a moving talk from the Dalai Lama motivating us on our first morning, we continued at full speed to try and capture as much as possible in our two days at the event. As well as advice from Antti, the young people attended workshops with his holiness the Dalai Lama, Leymah Gbowee and Nobel Laureate Betty Williams. We followed their journey, capturing inspiring stories and a hunger for change through their ideas for advocacy and action.
The film produced was released on the Mazda Rebels website, a hub of visual storytelling inspired by those challenging convention.
