Matt Hopkins and Helen Takkin nominated for 1.4 awards

We're delighted to see that Progress directors Matt Hopkins and Helen Takkin have been longlisted for the prestiguous 1.4 Awards.

Their films, ‘A Bright Warm Day in May’ and ‘Descent’ have both been selected in the 'Flying High' category for established directors as well as the 'Lockdown' and 'Personal' categories respectively.

A Bright Warm Day in May is a visual journey through the final days of lockdown as told by those who live on the fringes of Brighton.  Conducted in the style of a photoessay, capturing single static frames while engaging in conversation, the journey and collection of characters takes an uniquely organic flow.

'Descent' is a heartfelt mix of practical stunt effects and intimate character work using the metaphor of drowning to explore the helplessness that comes with depression.

We wish Matt, Helen and all the other longlisted filmmakers the best of luck with the awards.
